Unraveling the History of the Dresden Plate

GUILD LECTURE

This lecture will focus on the much-loved Dresden Plate quilt block.  We will dig into defining the block, exploring the rich history, and taking a look at the many creative variations of the block that are available to us today.  The lecture includes a short PowerPoint presentation and a trunk show of some quilts that we were inspired to create over the years.  The Kackling Kousins have created three Dresden patterns that will be available to purchase.

WORKSHOP

Goals:

  • We will provide instruction using the “Vintage Dresdens” pattern that is included with the cost of the workshop.  We will focus on completing at least one mini-Dresden plate.

  • Demonstrations will be provided on how to insert a flange on your quilt top and how to edge your quilt with a ruffle.
