Quilt-As-You-Go Civil War Potholder Quilts

The goal of this machine quilting quilt-as-you-go technique is to review the steps that are used: basting the layers, supplies, quilting with a walking foot, free-motion quilting and quilting with rulers. After the review, we will focus on learning the Potholder techniques for completing the blocks the attendees bring from home.

Unraveling the History of the Dresden Plate

This workshop talks about a very old, traditional quilt block, the “Dresden Plate.”

The Kackling Kousins published three quilt patterns that focus on the Dresden Plate. Workshops are offered on each of their patterns.

Machine Quilting with Rulers

Students will come to class with a simple quilt block already sewn. We will use the block to practice using rulers.  We feel it is very important to learn this technique on a quilt top that actually has seams and ditches.  Discussion topics include supplies, samples, use of straight edge rulers to complete all of our in-the-ditch quilting, and use of a variety of curved rulers to create some fun designs to complete the quilt.  A demonstration will also be provided on how to do a faux-piped binding.

Free Motion Quilting

Come join us for a fun day of exploring free-motion quilting.  No experience required.  Students will come to class with two quilt sandwiches already prepared, and we will practice many different free-motion designs using your BSR (Bernina Stitch Regulator).  We will discuss supplies and show samples.

Cathedral Window Table Mat

Join the Kackling Kousins to create a Cathedral Window Table Runner.  No experience is required. The Cathedral Window is a timeless pattern that will look stunning on any table. This is a quilt-as-you-go project using precut 5” squares (aka charm packs).
