Kackling Kousins Travel to NJ for Guild Presentation

The Kackling Kousins traveled to Belvidere, New Jersey to spend the afternoon with the Evening Star Quilters' Guild.  What a great group of quilters!  They were so welcoming and attentive to the Quilt-As-You-Go Civil War Style lecture.

The Evening Star Quilters' Guild was founded in 1987.  The guild promotes interest and knowledge in the art of quilt making and a commitment to educate people in all aspects of quilting, while engaging in charitable projects.

The Evening Star Quilters' Guild will always be known as the first presentation the Kackling Kousins made outside Pennsylvania.  Thank you for having us.

Sharing Something Personal with the Quilting Community

Over the years, this blog has been about more than quilting.

It’s been about people.

The conversations, the laughter, the stories shared while creating something with our hands.

And that’s really what led to this…

Kelly, one-half of the Kackling Kousins duo, recently published a book.

It’s a collection of true stories from her life—moments that made her laugh, shake her head,  and say,“...you have got to be shitting me – life rarely checks.”

In many ways, it’s not that different from quilting.

Each story is a little piece… and when put together, they tell something bigger.

Sharing it here, even though it’s not quilting-related, just felt right. This community has been such a big part of the journey.

If you are curious, the book is available on

March Madness at Hoovers

The Kackling Kousins were at Hoovers on March 16 and 17.

NOTE:  The new classroom is fabulous.

Quilters were working on the Eli's Kitchen Block of the Month.  Here is a glimpse of all the blocks they have completed to date.

On the 17th, the Kousins taught Machine Quilting with Ruler.  We had a great class.  We have touched 100+ students with this class.  Ruler quilting allows quilters to customized their work.  Creativity is unlimited with this technique.

Kackling Kousins Start 2026 at Hoovers

On Monday, January 19, 2026 the Kackling Kousins offered their first classes of the new year at Hoovers.  The Eli's Kitchen Block-of-the-Month group met to complete their 7th and 8th blocks of the series.  In March we will take some photos so that you can see their progress to date.

On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, The Kousins offered the Quilt-As-You-Go Civil War Style class.  The students in attendance were very successful with their two- and three-block creations.  Take a look for yourself.

NOTE:  The Kackling Kousins will not be at Hoovers in February.  The classroom will be under construction to add the new addition.  We will return on Monday, March 16 for Blocks 9 and 10 of Eli's Kitchen; and on Tuesday, March 17 with another offering of Machine Quilting with Rulers.

A photo of Lorna's final three blocks were sent to us to share.  It is beautiful!

Another Opportunity - Cathedral Window Table Mat

The hustle bustle of the Holiday Season is definitely upon us.  Are you feeling the need to getaway to Hoovers before the family festivities begin?  Well, another opportunity presented itself.  Due to the inclement weather on December 2, the class for the Cathedral Window Table Mat was cancelled. However, low and behold, Leon (what would we do without Leon) switched some things around in Hoovers busy schedule and rescheduled the class for Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

The Kousins are so excited!  We too need a day at our "happy place," to end the year on a good note.  So, if you can get away, please join us for a fun filled day of sewing and learning this age-old technique.  It may even be that last minute Holiday gift you need.

What a Great Week for The Kousins!

Mount Laurel Quilt Guild, Wellsboro, Pennsylvania

The Kackling Kousins started their week providing a lecture and workshop to the Mount Laurel Quilt Guild in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania (Monday, 11/10/25). What a beautiful area!

It was truly a pleasure to provide the Mount Laurel Quilt Guild with a lecture and workshop entitled, "Quilt-As-You-Go Civil War Style."  This event followed the Guild's mission, as well as the goals of the Kackling Kousins--to further the art of quilting through education, sharing ideas, materials, skills and fellowship.  What a great group of quilters!

Take a look at our day:

The Kousins then traveled to Hoovers in Mifflinburg to teach the third class of "Eli's Kitchen Block-of-the-Month" (Monday, 11/17/25).  We completed the sixth block for this quilt.  The fellowship we share with this group of quilters is totally amazing.

The week ended with The Kousins offering a class on "Free Motion Quilting" at Hoovers (Tuesday, 11/18/25).  We had so much fun and each quilter worked hard to find their favorite free motion design.
