The Kousins Develop First Quilt Pattern

Happy 2024 Quilters!

Kackling Kousins Quilting is excited to share with you our revised logo.  We hope you like it as much as we do.  It seems to represent "The Kousins to a T."

"The Kousins" would also like to announce the development of their first published quilting pattern.  The Kousins will be debuting this pattern at a Workshop planned in conjunction with the Hoovers' SPRING FLING scheduled for Wednesday, April 10 through Friday, April 12, 2024 at the Rusty Rail in Mifflinburg, PA.

We have scheduled our Workshop for Wednesday evening, 4/10/24 and again Thursday evening, 4/11/24 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.  Registration is limited to the first 50 quilters that register.

So, after the daytime events, come out to Hoovers at 2282 Beaver Road, Mifflinburg, and spend the evening sewing and shopping with "The Kousins!" Each of the registered quilters will receive the first copies of our pattern and a kit (Sponsored by Hoovers) to assemble the final product.  More details will be available as we get closer to the April event.

To register for the SPRING FLING and/or the Workshop, you can call Hoovers directly at 570-966-3822.

Hoovers Quilters Work on Egg Money BOM

On Monday, January 15, 2024 the quilters who signed up for the Eleanor Burns's Egg Money BOM worked on Blocks 5 and 6.  The fifth block was the "Old Maid's Puzzle" block, which had a great story about Sadie Hawkins Day.  The sixth block was the "Dresden Plate" block that has a long history.  In the 1930 the Dresden Plate block was related to the colorful depression glass that was produced during that era.  Here are a few pictures that were captured of the class.

Kousins Teach Free Motion Quilting

WOW!  What a great group of Quilters to teach free motion quilting on Tuesday, October 17!

It was truly rewarding when several students opened up their BSR (Bernina Stitch Regulator) for the first time.  The BSR offers many amazing features and techniques.  The class practiced over 18 different free motion designs.

Hoover's Host the Kousins for New BOM - Egg Money by Eleanor Burns

The Kousins started a new Block of the Month (BOM) at Hoover's on Monday, October 16, 2023--Egg Money Quilts: Vintage 1930's Samplers.

During the 1930s, most eggs were produced on rural farms with small flocks that scratched their way around the barnyard.  The farmer’s wife was usually responsible for caring for the chickens, and the money received from the sale of the eggs was hers.  Surely some fabric was purchased with these precious funds, and along with chicken feed sacks came the quilts uniquely associated with the Depression.

It was so exciting to see the fabrics that everyone selected.  We completed the Grandmothers Flower Garden and the Road to California blocks.  Stay tune for more photos as the Egg Money BOM continues.
