Tales of the First Ladies BMO Complete

On Monday, May 19, 2025, the quilters at Hoovers completed Eleanor Burns' Tales of the First Ladies Quilt. Offering this class as a two block-a-month series gave everyone an opportunity to learn new techniques and get to know others who have the same passion for quilting.  What a great group of creative ladies. The block variations were amazing.  Take a look for yourself.

We also had several beautiful show-and-tell projects that were shared!

It Followed Me Home From Spring Fling . . .

Hoovers' Spring Fling was wonderful!  If you haven't attended one of these events, treat yourself.  There are three fun-filled days of shopping, giveaways, door prizes, and the opportunity to learn from famous educators.

The Kackling Kousins were busy helping Amanda Murphy, Bernina Expert and Quilting Longarm Spokesperson; and Connie Flanders, Retired Director of Education and Training at Bernina of America, at the Spring Fling events.

The Kousins were wondering how many women and/or men went home from Spring Fling and told this story to their significant other:

Kackling Kousins Publish Three Patterns for Quilters

The Kackling Kousins are proud to announce that they have published their third quilting pattern.  This is a very exciting accomplishment for us.  We would like to thank Leon Hoover, Owner of Hoover's Bernina Sew, for his support of Kackling Kousins Quilting.  Hoovers packaged these patterns with coordinating fabrics so that they can be sold as kits at Spring Fling 2025.  Spring Fling is scheduled at the Rusty Rail in Mifflinburg on Wednesday, April 9 through Friday, April 11. If you are interested in purchasing a copy of one, two or all three patterns, please email Kate (klm4@psu.edu) or Kelly (kohenry59@gmail.com). By emailing us your request, it will ensure your information is secure.

Spring 2025 is Popping Up All Over

Yes, quilters, spring is popping up all over.  Anyone else unsure of how we are at the end March already?

The Kackling Kousins offered a designing class on the "Tales of the First Ladies" block-of-the month on Monday, March 17, 2025.  As you will see from the photos below, each of the quilters made progress.  Some finished their blocks, while others started to make plans for their center medallion and quilt layout.  The last class on this block-of-the-month will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025.

On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, a class on "Machine Quilting with Rulers" was held.  This is a great introductory class for quilters who want to learn this technique.  The students prepare two quilting sandwiches to test drive a number of rulers provided by The Kousins.  Rulers allow quilters to be creative.  Ruler quilting is custom quilting and a real "show stopper."

Free Motion Quilting at Hoovers

The next day, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, another group of quilters joined the Kackling Kousins at Hoovers to learn about free motion quilting techniques.  Each quilter brought two 18"x18" quilt sandwiches to practice free motion quilting designs.   The knowledge and skills were obtained in order for the quilters to be successful on their own quilting projects.
